During your stay, you’ll have the opportunity to visit the house and museum of Ortega, a renowned Spanish painter from Picasso’s school, who sought refuge in Bosco due to persecution from the Spanish Francoist regime. You’ll also get to meet local artists active in the region, including painters, sculptors, ceramists, goldsmiths, restorers, and mosaic artists. Additionally, you’ll contribute to reducing environmental impact by consuming locally sourced, seasonal organic food, and by using natural soaps and cleaners produced on-site from locally grown medicinal herbs.

Day 1
Upon your arrival in the early afternoon and after checking in, a presentation and introduction to the workshop will commence at 5:00 PM. Later, at 8:30 PM, you’ll indulge in a dinner featuring local organic delicacies.
Day 2
The second day will begin with an invigorating breakfast, followed by an introduction to the day’s work and the execution of a drawing using pencil, charcoal, sanguine on themes of still life, landscape, figure from life. After a light lunch on the premises, at 15:30, you will proceed with the return of the drawing on canvas and the beginning of the painting activity with oil paints.
At 6:30 p.m., we will visit the village of Bosco di San Giovanni a Piro with a stop at the Ortega Museum, dedicated to the Spanish painter from the school of Picasso, after which we will visit the majolica mural by Maestro Peppino Mitarotonda of Matera based on a drawing by Ortega.
The evening will end with dinner at the hotel at 20:30.
Day 3
After breakfast, the day begins at 10:00 AM with a guided tour to the captivating Basilian Monastery in the picturesque village of San Giovanni a Piro. Along the way, we’ll make a brief panoramic stop at the plateau of Ciolandrea, where you’ll have the opportunity to capture photos that will inspire your afternoon’s artistic works. At 4:00 PM, immerse yourself in art and let your ideas take shape as you create a new painting masterpiece, using a faster technique drawn from your photos. The evening concludes with a delightful dinner at 8:30 PM, where you can savor the authentic flavors of the region.
Day 4
After a rich breakfast, at 10 a.m. dedicate yourself to completing your artwork. Under the expert guidance of Caesar, you will put the finishing touches to your works and participate in final considerations, sharing your experiences and learnings.
